Position Summary:

 

We connect at a deeper level to Christ by intentionally pursuing a growing relationship with Him, to each other by purposefully building loving relationships, and to our community by actively working together to introduce families to Christ.

 

The role of the Kids Ministry Director is to serve with the staff and Elders in overseeing and coordinating the Kids Ministry at North Haven Church. The Kids Ministry Director takes on the responsibility of guarding the spiritual culture and character of the kids, families, and volunteers within the Kids Ministry.

Part-time

$18 - $20 per hour

20 hours per week

​

Essential Responsibilities:

​

  • Children's Ministry

    • Train, schedule, and supervise Sunday AM and Wednesday PM Kids Ministry volunteers 

    • Develop, administer, and coordinate all areas of the Kids Ministry departments

    • Ensure a safe, clean, aesthetically pleasing, and relevant environment for children and their families

    • Consistently communicate with parents regarding the development and welfare of their children

    • Participate with the Next Gen Pastor in the selection and implementation of curriculum

    • Maintain appropriate levels of resources necessary to carry out the programs, including consumable supplies and equipment needs

    • Manage the Kids Ministry budget

    • Design, develop, and execute a summer VBS opportunity for pre-K through 5th grade

  • Staff leadership

    • Work with the Next Gen Pastor and Senior Pastor in the coordination of the birth-5th ministries 

    • Support the overall ministry of North Haven Church by participating in outreach events, weekend worship, and other all-church experiences

    • Shall become a member of the church

 

Qualifications:

  • Faith & Character:

    • Growing relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by action, attitude, and behavior 

    • Fully embracing the vision, values, and North Haven’s statement of faith 

    • Passion for ministry to kids (birth-5th) and families and commitment to their personal growth, inspiring them to find and follow Jesus

  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities 

    • Able to work within a complex organizational structure involving paid staff, volunteers, Board of Elders, and ministry teams

    • Skills in planning and coordinating in a ministry setting

    • Ability to recruit, train, and lead volunteers

    • Oral and written communication skills

    • Strong relational abilities, specifically with kids and families, both individually and in groups

    • Demonstrated ability to design and execute programming appropriate for kids (birth-5th)

    • Generates new ideas, gives direction, and allows others to work out the details

    • Takes on multiple challenges/assignments and generally succeeds

    • Self-motivated, flexible, creative, and autonomous

 

Education and Experience:

​

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or related training in ministry

  • Minimum of two years of experience working with children and families in a church setting

​

Physical Demands:

​

While performing the duties of the job, the employee will frequently be required to manage tight deadlines, concentrate over extended periods of time, sit, speak, and use hands and operate equipment, to talk and listen while interfacing with staff, and members of the congregation. Further, the person must possess the ability to perform the above in-person or through email or phone conversations, and be able to read documents. The employee may be required to stand, move about, stoop, walk for extended periods of time, push/pull, reach, and carry a maximum of 30 lbs. The employee may also be required to work activities of a seasonal/cyclical nature, interruptions to work flow, and call-in on short notice and close the work office.​​
